JUNE 18, 2007
The monthly meeting of the President and the Board of
Trustees met at 7:00 P.M. on June 18, 2007. Those
present included: President Jim Morgan, Trustees Brad
Williams, Lyle Shoraga, Carol Huff, and Ron Price. Also
present were P.C Pat Carter, Treasurer Cris Perry, Clerk
Linda Ash, and Assist. D.P.W. Mark Blickensderfer.
Those not present were Trustee Rod Forbes, Trustee Mike
Songer, and Atty. Colette McCarty.
The meeting was called to order by President Morgan.
Motion was made by Trustee Williams, second Price to
approve the minutes from the previous meeting.
All yeas for approval.
CLAIMS REPORT
The only addition to the claims report was the bill for
Ameren IP. The following is a breakdown of that bill:
Adm:-$534.62
PW-$1281.49
Water-$1736.06
Sewer-$1075.80
for a total bill of $4627.97. Motion to approve claims
made by Trustee Williams, second Shoraga, all yeas.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The clearing account is on the negative side. Cris will
transfer some money from the Money Market account or she
can cash in a CD. The Clearing Account CD matures on
June 20. Trustees instructed Cris to cash in the CD and
re-invest half of it into another CD and the other half
in the checking account. Motion to approve treasurer's
report made by Trustee Williams, second Huff, all yeas.
Cris had water adjustments for the Board. One on
Westside Drive-has been signed. They have been
instructed to pay all of the monthly bill and extra on
the remaining bill. If a check is returned due to NSF,
and that person is slated to be shut off, no notice has
to be given to turn the water off.
A resident on Carter street turned in a signed
adjustment from. Motion to approve adjustment made by
Trustee Williams, second Price, all yeas.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
Rob is on vacation and Mark gave the report. The tuck
pointers have started on the building today. The
Franklin Street lift station got started also.
The restrooms at Born Park are being locked at 8:00 each
evening. We are on the list for Burdick to come out and
fix the water fountain on the front of the building.
Graffiti was found on the water tower.
The truck is still down in Dietrich-not quite done yet.
The high service pump has been fixed, next is the newer
pump.
The village presently puts out larvicides for mosquitoes
to control them. Spraying may not be needed.
Police Report
Past out stats for the past 2 months.
The school has posted signs that no one is to be on the
school property after 8:00P.M. The parks officially
close at 10:00P.M. but there are not any signs stating
that. Signs need to be posted.
Received one bid on the old police car for $1501.00.
Motion to accept bid made by Trustee Williams, second
Price, all yeas. There were no bids on the other
equipment.
The juveniles responsible for the recent tire slashing
will be held to a “contract” consisting of the parents
making restitution, apology to each owner, and a curfew.
The Trustees feel that if some community service is
available, it needs to be done. May prove difficult with
one individual as he does not live in this area.
OLD BUSINESS
Vulgamott Building-getting cleaned out.
TIF-no word from attorney
Water rates-still looking at figures
No other activity as the attorney for the Village was
not available for the meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Health insurance –will need a closed session.
Fair Queen-didn't show up.
TRUSTEE'S REPORT
Trustee Shoraga- The old IP building on North Street
needs cleaned up. Also the empty lot on Hunt Street is
weedy and rough. Needs to be leveled out.
Trustee Huff-got registered for the new official's
conference.
Trustee Williams-problems at the fair grounds.
Barricades at the entrance need to be removed. No one
has the right to restrict access to the boulevards in
any section of town.
The mayor read a report that when any ground is annexed
the following have to be notified: the Township Highway
Commission, the Board of Trustees, the Township
Supervisor, and the Township Clerk.
PUBLIC FORUM
Randy West wanted to take the opportunity to thank the
Village for their financial help with the Fathill
Festival. There was a good crowd Saturday night.
There was some discussion concerning Clarkson and his
bid to build a plant in the area. The President of the
Village will contact to see if there is anything the
Village can do to help.
The mayor also called about the possibility of getting
another gas station in town and found out several others
have done so also.
The meeting adjourned at 7:55 for closed session, 120/2
C-2 on a motion by Trustee Williams, second Shoraga.
The meeting returned to regular session at 8:10. There
was some discussion about the number of dogs at the ball
park when games are in session.
